During the decision making class, I personally used accommodation to deal with the conflict. I chose this method because I was simply satisfied with my grade and didn't care what the outcome of the deal was. I also knew that the people in the class would choose extra credit and the curve so that also lead me to do nothing at all. In the end, I liked the result of the deal.
After knowing the pattern of communications, and the reactions of my classmates, I think I would have chose collaborating.
Since everyone in the class were aggressive during decision making class, the only way to make them listen is to bargin and negotating with them. In the end the class did negotate with one another and agreed to one great deal.

A response written by someone who was already satisfied with their grade..
ReplyDeleteThis is interesting to hear and I believe you have chosen the avoidance approach rather than accommodation. The reason I say that is because you kept your opinions to yourself since you did not care about the outcome of the conflict. Unless you scored perfectly, I think you could've made note of something in the test that you did not like. Or maybe you even wanted the test to remain the same since you did so well in this format and did not want it to change. I don't know your view on that, can you elaborate?
I also chose avoidance, however for different reasons. Even if you were satisfied with your grade, perhaps there was one particular outcome you would have preferred more than the other ones. Or as Francis said, perhaps there is a part of the test that you didn't like. For example some people prefer multiple choice to essays.
ReplyDeleteBut in the end, if you were comfortable with any outcome, you were probably right to sit back and let the others debate. There was enough confusion already.
Congratulations on the good grade!
It is nice to see that you were satisfied with your grade. Unlike myself, I desperatly needed the curve. Im sure you could always use a few extra points ;) Bargaining did not seem to help though.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation…it is really good that you got a nice grade. Do you mind of sharing how your study method is! I did badly on the test, so I really need a second chance which I can improve my grade. The result turn out to be really good, my goal is to get a higher grade in my second exam.
